Reaping Rewards From A Capsicum Seed

The flourishing life in the metropolis made people to become city dwellers taking them away from life’s simple pleasures like growing one’s crops. If one can rise above the challenges of growing vegetables in space-strapped city dwellings, then eating one’s own produce is something to look forward to. If you are loving the heat of every food you eat, you may begin with geminating a capsicum seed. If having a garden plot outside where it can grow under the sun is impossible for lack of space, try container gardening.

If one would intend to start with the vibrant and useful capsicum seed, remember that it is a tropical species. Being tropical, the first rule of the day is to have enough of sunlight. With container gardening allowing movement and lamps to provide artificial lighting during germination, the limiting factor is addressed.

Proceed with the first step which is the preparation of the conbtainer for gardening. Ensure proper drainage by putting enough drainage holes to prevent roots from being flooded with water that leads usually to falling off of leaves. The drain can be enhanced by placing pebbles at the bottom. The plants need at least 6 inches of garden soil ; thus, you must have containers with at least the same height.

Use a good quality potting mix from garden supply stores. Just getting soil from the ground may not be a good mix and may be more tedious. Harmful pathogens in grounds may also cause complications in the future.

Not all seeds are viable, so when germinating capsicum seed, use more than needed.

Let the seed coats imbibe water by spraying until the embryonic root and stem emerge. The seeds must receive at least 6 hours light every day.

Transfer the seedlings to the container. Expose the young plants to 15 -16 hours of artificial light or natural sunlight in 8 to 10 weeks so these will bear flowers. Keep the seedlings covered by a see-through plastic or glass.

It will take about three weeks for a Capsicum to turn into a mature plant. Let the flowers and fruit be a spectacle as light is provided. Harvest and enjoy the fiery meal you’ll get out of it.
